Message Mon born August 1.st 1957, began his musical training at the age of five playing classical music. Bach, Chopin, List, and Beethoven was his favorite childhood music. As a teenager he learned other instruments because there was no piano in band class. By the time he finished high school he was a seasoned in all styles of music and on his way to a life of playing it. In 1976 he joined The Sylvers Band and toured with them for two years eventually becoming their music director. After leaving The Sylvers he played for Linda Clifford.on a short tour, then put the family band back together. He wasn't to back up another artist until 2003 when he toured with Morris Day and The Time .

I grew up on R&B and classic soul music. I was a young child when I was exposed to a totally different culture. Now I am suspended somewhere in the middle. I like grindy rock music with a solid groove. The more guitar, the better. Chevele, Van Halen, Dokken, Ra, ACDC, the good stuff. I don't mind a good love song or ballet but for the most part either keep in funky or keep it rockin. My favorite guitarists are Steve Lukather, George Lynch, and Paul Gilbert.

Julie has toured the planet with the World Famous Platters for the past 8 years as their female vocalist. She has performed on many recordings and has performed with various style acts. She was in Slapbak in the early days when they were signed to Warner Brothers. Her voice and her face are on most of slapbak material. Her original song "Heart & Soul", a collaboration with Jimi James is helping families heal from tragedy on a "Memorial CD" and will be on the title track of the major motion picture "Angel In The Mirror".

Jara played his first drum beat at the age two. By the time he was four we was playing drums for the family band. At twelve he was escorted to clubs by his parents and keeping a funky groove for the family. In 1991 he was signed to Warner Brothers records and recorded his first album with George Clinton and Bootsie Collins.

Janine is the only member of the Harris Band that wasn't born in South Central Los Angeles, but born in Laguna Beach, Ca. She's the youngest and has played with many of the bands organized by her elder siblings. Janine and her sister Julz were the girls in Slapbak during the Warner Brothers deal. She's the mother of Justice, Josiah, and Jonah (Wild At Heart)

Josh is Jeff's eldest of two sons.He's a rapper and producer like his daddy and two uncles. LIke the rest of the family Josh took the stage at a very young age playing with his father. In the modern family band Josh brings the hip hop flavor the family's multi genre repertoires

 

Jeremiah Stratton (T.R.A.M.A.)

Jeremiah is Julz's eldest of two sons. His father married Julz and played with the family band in the 80's after Jeff left. Years later Jeremiah picked up drum sticks and was inspired by his uncle Jara. Currently Jeremiah is the drummer for the group HED PE, and touring the planet constantly.
Wild @ Heart is little Jonah "James", Josiah, and Justice are Janine's kids all with a musical talent. They're coming up in the footsteps of their parents, aunt, and uncles.
