Joy
started teaching her first three kids music when they reached
the age of five. James
Sr. took the family out of "da hood" in 1969,
the same year Jara was born. Jara by the way played his
first beat at two years old, and was a full fledged drummer
in a band by the time he was four.
James
and Joy were The Four J's first managers. Joy made the costumes
and taught the music, James bought the instruments and built
a portable drum riser, and trailer to haul the equipment.
The proud parents of "Another J5" had their own
self contained traveling show and did what they could, hoping
to get them discovered, from OC in the 70's. Sorry to say
it didn't happen. Lotta wanna be's, but no one who could
have really made another family sensation out of them ,
like Barry Gordy or Diana Ross. The parental management
situation lasted until the eldest rebel (Jimi James) turned
18, married his high school sweetheart, and took off with
another family act that was big at the time called "The
Sylvers"

VIDEO (Dad Jams)
Dad gets on stage with the band
for the first time in family history. Good thing we had
the camera rollin' cause no one would have ever believed
it.
